YOACAP, a program of the Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC), offers a state-approved pre-apprenticeship designed to prepare Philadelphia residents ages 18–24 for entry into building trade apprenticeships. Many young adults face barriers meeting union apprenticeship requirements; YOACAP bridges that gap by providing hands-on training, life-skills development, and individualized support to help participants successfully transition into the trades.
Participants should complete the following steps:
* Attend program information session
* Provide one recommendation letter from a non-family member
* Submit a 250-word essay indicating why they are interested in the program
* Provide a valid identification card, a social security card, a birth certificate, a high school diploma/GED, and a selective service form (males only).
* Submit eligibility forms
* A CASAS Math and Reading assessment.
After completion of these steps, eligibility will be determined and final selection will be made.
