Linda has touched countless lives as the leader of the Youth Outreach Adolescent Community Awareness Program. Since 1989, when her tenure as the Executive Director began, she has guided YO ACAP to the status of one of the most well received organizations in the city of Philadelphia. In the last decade she turned a one room office into a half million dollar a year organization.

Duerward
Beale
Program Manager

Duerward toured worldwide as DJ Woody Wood with the hip hop group 3 X's Dope in the late 80s and early 90s. But in 1993 he joined YO ACAP as the Program Manager. Wood oversees the overall implementation and supervision of YO ACAP's programs: HIV/AIDS Comprehensive Community Education and Prevention Program, Gender Specific HIV/AIDS Mental Health Support Group Program, HIV/AIDS Medical & Prevention Case Management. Wood's particular area focus is North Philadelphia.

ZuKhan
Bey

Youth Counselor

As a youth counselor ZuKhan works with support group participants to reduce and eliminate the possibility of becoming HIV positive and transmitting the virus to others. ZuKhan's small group discussions are some of the most popular of YO ACAP's workshops. Based on survey responses and individualized counseling, ZuKhan assists students to design behavior and lifestyle plans. He is one of the lead playwrights for the dramas, and also works with Fred, Shawn and Wood to create beats and rhymes for YO ACAP public service announcements and radio commercials.

Tiffany
Brown

HIV Tester/
Youth Counselor

Tiffany began with YO ACAP as a volunteer in 1996. She facilitated HIV/AIDS workshops and conducted grant research. Tiffany then graduated from the University of Houston in May 1997 and returned to YO ACAP in August working as a counselor. Tiffany is a certified HIV tester and provides pre and post HIV test counseling. Presently Tiffany facilitates A Place to Scream  which is a support group for women infected with or affected by HIV and AIDS. In addition, Tiffany assists college bound youth to assess their career objectives and to obtain financial aid and scholarship information. Tiffany is area leader of North Philadelphia.

Fred
Burnette

Risk Reduction Specialist

As Risk-Reduction Specialist, Fred identifies individuals who are at risk for HIV/AIDS and link those individuals into a system of care which addresses their HIV/AIDS risk. Fred works particularly with young African American males in detention centers and the juvenile justice system and helps the boys and young men identify their risk. Through this outreach effort Fred connects the boys and young men with a system of care which addresses their specific HIV/AIDS related problem(s). Fred is area leader for Germantown.

Ryekisha
Coffie

Prevention Case Manager

Kisha has been with YO ACAP since 1988. As a prevention case manager Kisha provides intensive, individualized support and prevention counseling for clients. She works to assist them to remain sero negative or to reduce the risk for HIV transmission to others by those who are sero positive. Kisha provides an ongoing, sustained relationship with the clients and assures multiple-session HIV risk-reduction counseling and access to service referrals. Presently she is leading a sexual health support group with St. Vincent's Maternity Residence Home. Kisha is expecting her first child in Spring 1999. Kisha's area focus is the North Central Empowerment Zone.

Phillip
Johnson

Street Outreach Coordinator

Phil works directly with the program director to coordinate street outreach schedules. He directs the preparation of the safer sex condom packets and makes follow up calls to people met through street outreach interested in free HIV testing. Phil is also one of the newest leads in YO ACAP drama productions.

Ebony
Joyner

Office Manager

Ebony is a women's support group counselor and was instrumental in writing the newest drama production on domestic violence, entitled PlayStation. She coordinates YO ACAP drama presentations and workshops outside of our four area focus and is assistant editor of the YO ACAP newsletter.

Shawn
White

Youth Counselor Coordinator

As Youth Counselor Coordinator, Shawn schedules and facilitates weekly male support groups in area highschools. Shawn helps the young men identify their risk to STDs but also their risk to pitfalls in life. Shawn discusses topic ranging from self esteem to the juvenile justice system. Shawn is Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly YO ACAP newsletter and one of the principal playwrights behind Playstation. Shawn is area leader for South Philadelphia.
