College Access arose out of a need to supplement the college guidance programs in the many area high schools of our in-house YO ACAP participants. Since its inception it has amassed a small college library which includes college applications and viewbooks, phone numbers to schools, scholarship information and applications, plus test taking materials for the PSAT, ACT, SAT, and Achievement Tests. The library also includes cd roms and computer programs for colleges, scholarships, and tests.

Counselors help students fill out college applications as well as improve their application essays. Counselors and students, together, develop profiles which help students identify their strengths. In turn these profiles help the students write their personal statements, as well as provide a profile for people writing recommendations.

College Access hosts a number of events during the year. They include the winter college/ trade school Fair, and campus tours at a number of different schools. The program also produces a College Survival Guide and a Crash Course to College workshop. But the program 's strength is the support it gives students. It provides a place where they can address their fears about "what's next" and often encourages students who would not have considered college an option.
